Rock 'n' Roll, and Kinky Knickers | The Weekly Update #1

Okay so this weekly update is actually for a random week in June, but hey ho, nothing else exciting has happened recently!

Some of you may know that I am studying Musical Theatre in college. Because of that course, I get the opportunity to take part in several shows. Our end of year show was 'Rock of Ages' and it was an amazing production to be a part of. I was playing the role of Sherrie's Mother, and while I thoroughly appreciated having a solo song, I was slightly disappointed to not land one of the larger roles I had my eye on. However, the girls who got the parts I really wanted absolutely slayed it - they were fantastic and I was proud to work alongside them!

There's something about performing that I really love, and until I perform it's quite easy to forget that feeling. Rehearsals can get very tiring and repetitive, and when you've got written college work on top of it it's a bit overwhelming. Add to that mix somewhat intimidating and bitchy (at times) co students, and it's easy to think 'why the hell am I putting myself through this?' But the giddy sensation I feel getting myself ready before a show, and stepping into stage lights so bright you can't see two feet in front of you, I know exactly why I put myself through this. Performing is a truly wonderful experience for me.

The post-show blues hit me hard after Rock of Ages, and I decided I needed to update my underwear collection. I've recently lost weight to the point of my underwear not fitting me right, and I randomly remembered a Mary Portas show from a few years ago, where she was trying to set up an underwear factory in England, with English workers using English lace. I decided to search it to see if it was still up and running, and lo and behold, it was! And they had a pretty decent sale on too!

The company was Kinky Knickers, who use English lace and other fabrics in their factory. It has provided jobs for people who were struggling to find one, and it was definitely something I wanted to support.

When they arrived, it felt very luxurious. Every pair is in their own individual box, presented to perfection. I won't go as far as giving you a haul of knickers (as much as I'm trying to open up on this blog, that seems a step too far!), but I will tell you that the lace is wonderfully soft and the fit is extremely comfortable.

The designs are beautiful, and I am so happy to be buying a smaller size for myself. If you're on the look for some new underwear, I'd definitely check out Kinky Knickers. They're slightly expensive, but it's well worth it when you think of supporting a truly British business, and the quality is very high.

I was slightly disappointed with how long the delivery took - over two weeks! I was panicking a bit to be honest, but they might have been overwhelmed with sale orders or sewing them from scratch. Just bear in mind when you place an order that it might take a while.

So that was this update from a random week in June. Hope you enjoyed it! What have you been up to this week (or any week of your choosing)?
