Essie Nail Polishes Haul and Review

Hello!

I've wanted some Essie polishes for years, and I finally decided to go for it and pick up a few nice looking colours from the Boots website. Here's a mini haul of the polishes I chose!

Birthday Suit
This is from the Retro Revival collection, hence the sparkles on the lid. This is probably my least favourite of the shades I picked up. It comes out quite streaky and looks odd on my nails to be honest, probably because it is so pale. It also needs several thousand coats to be able to see a hint of colour. There are sheer polishes, and then there are 'did I even apply anything or was that just a dream?' polishes. Not impressed to be honest!

Ladylike
I'd been looking for a shade like this for ages. Oh my goodness, it's beautiful. It has that neutral polish effect of making my fingers look longer which is great seeing as I have fat, stubby fingers! It's practically opaque after one coat, although I do tend to apply two just to be sure. I love this one; I think it's just lovely.

Mint Candy Apple
(Honestly, I have no idea who chose the name for this. Surely 'Mint Candy Apple' should be green? Not according to Essie, I guess.)
This pretty turquoise/blue shade adds a really nice pop of colour. It's perfect for spring and summer. Like Ladylike, two coats give me complete opacity.

Virgin Snow
(Again with the name thing - THIS SOUNDS LIKE IT SHOULD BE WHITE)
I really like this pretty lilac colour. Like Mint Candy Apple, it's a really nice, refreshing pop of colour, suited to the season. One thing I've found with all of the polishes I bought, however, is that they chip quite quickly. This is a pretty big deal for me, seeing as I use both a base coat and a top coat. The colour should be sealed in there like a well-made sandwich, but nope. That's disappointing, considering the price tag for these things.

I probably won't be buying many more Essie polishes, unless I come across a shade that I really like. I've found them too easily chipped for my liking, especially considering that they're over eight pounds a bottle. I was also disappointed with the opacity for Birthday Suit, although the others seem to be okay on that front. Do you have a favourite Essie shade?
