Moisturise, Motherpuckers!

April 24, 2016 0 Comments

We all know the importance of keeping our skin moisturised (and I doubt anyone here can say they're perfect with this one...), but how many of us focus on intentionally moisturising our lips? I for one hate the feeling of dry lips. They end up chapped and gross-looking, and they just feel horrible. I can barely focus when all I can feel is the discomfort of having my lips do a desert impression for no reason. As we are well into spring, I'd say it's time to break out lip products with a more sheer appearance, and why not moisturise our pouts while we're at it? Here are some recommendations of products for this very purpose.

A Fresh Makeup Look for Spring

April 17, 2016 4 Comments

Today's post is a tutorial to show you how to recreate this makeup look.

I tried to keep the colours quite light and bright, so it's perfect for spring. For the skin, I didn't mattify too much and I used blusher to give me a rosy glow.

To find out how I did this, keep reading!

1. Prime your skin with The Body Shop's 'Matte It' primer. This will keep your makeup in place and help it go on smoothly.

2. With a Real Techniques makeup sponge, blend some concealer under your eyes. At this stage you can add foundation if you'd prefer, but I personally wanted to keep my makeup very light coverage.

3. Set the concealer in place with a touch of powder. I used the Rimmel 'Stay Matte' in 'Transparent'. Try not to use too much - we're only trying to set the concealer, not keep the face matte. Of course, if you prefer a dewy look, skip this step entirely.

4. Take a bit of blusher over the apples of the cheeks. Mine is from The Body Shop, and it's in the shade '02 Coral'.

5. Use some shimmer highlight to add glow, which I think is perfect for spring. I use the palest 'Shimmer Pearls' from The Body Shop.

6. Fill in your brows with the Freedom 'Brow Powder Duo' on an angled brush. Mine is in the shade 'Dark Brown'.

1. Take a light brown shade into your crease.

2. In the outer corner, add a darker brown shade, taking this halfway along the crease. Blend the two shades together with a fluffy brush.

3. Pack a shimmery pink shade over the lid, taking care not to cover the work you just did in the crease.

4. Do winged liner in whatever style you normally would. I used the Barry M 'Eye Define' waterproof liner in 'Super Gloss Black'. Take a little bit of the eyeliner under the eye, just to the centre of the lashline.

5. Use a black kohl pencil in the waterline for added definition. Mine was from Barry M.

6. Finally, add a coat Maybelline's 'The Colossal Go Extreme' mascara in 'Very Black' to lengthen the lashes.

Finish the look with a quick swipe of Clinique Chubby Stick in the shade 'Chunky Cherry' over your lips. This gives a sheer coverage that's perfect for spring, while adding a pretty pink colour to your lips.

An Urban Decay Eyeshadow Look

April 10, 2016 0 Comments

Today's post is a tutorial to show you how to get this natural makeup look, using the Urban Decay shadows shown in my Feel Unique Haul.

It is a simple, fairly natural eye look with a slight pink sheen on the lips.

To see how to get this look, keep reading!

I started off with my usual face makeup, which is The Body Shop 'Matte It' primer, the Seventeen 'Stay Time' concealer in 'Extra Fair' and the transparent Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Following this, I filled in my brows with some brow powder from Freedom in 'Dark Brown'.

1. For the eyes, begin by taking the Maybelline 'Colour Tatto' in 'On and On Bronze' all over the lid to prime. On top of this, use the Urban Decay eyeshadow 'Toasted'. Again, this should go all over the lid.

2. Next, take 'Twice Baked' into the outer V and up into the crease. Blend the two shades together.

3. Pack the shimmery shade 'Space Cowboy' all over the lid. This adds a gorgeous sparkle to your look for that little extra pop!

4. Highlight in the inner corner using 'Cosmic'.

5. With a black kohl pencil (mine is from Barry M), add definition in the waterline and above the upper lash line. Blend this out if you want for a softer look, or keep it as it is for more sharpness.

6. Apply lots of mascara for long, thick lashes! I used the Maybelline 'The Colossal Go Extreme!' in 'Very Black'.

To moisturise my lips and add a pretty pop of colour, I used the Nivea 'Fruity Shine' in Cherry. This smells amazing and moisturises well. It's not too pigmented on the lips, as what looks to be a red colour came out quite pink, but it is still a pretty colour and a good product.

March Favourites

April 03, 2016 6 Comments

Now that we're into a new month, I thought that today I'd share with you some products I've been loving throughout March.

Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter
For some reason, I forgot all about my lip butters from Revlon until I found one a few weeks ago while sorting out my room. I've since fallen back in love with them, which you'll see in future posts. They are very moisturising and come in a large range of very pretty colours, so if you'd let them be forgotten, I urge you to bring them back out.

I don't care if this film is aimed at children. I am seventeen years old, and my mum and I (both huge Disney nerds) went to see this towards the end of the month. IT'S SO GOOD. I loved the characters and especially Judy Hopps' optimism and ability to chase her dream despite people constantly putting her down (yes, I know she's an animated rabbit but she's still inspirational - deal with it). Pretty much the whole thing is very funny, and the action and drama kept me guessing as well.

I'm trying to improve my stamina by running along with the NHS Choices 'Couch to 5K' programme, and this lovely lady's positivity and energy is super motivating. She lost 50 pounds by herself, so I take her words of motivation seriously. It is possible for me to get fit, and I am going to make it happen. On her YouTube channel, she has workout videos (which I follow along with when it's raining and I don't fancy going on a run), as well as #MotivationMonday videos to inspire her audience to get going on their health journeys!

I got this as a gift from a friend a few years ago, but it's the perfume I've been reaching for all month. It's a very pretty scent that isn't typical at all. I prefer this scent to most expensive designer perfumes I've been smelling recently! As the name suggests, it reminds me of spices, as well as making me imagine walking through an idyllic Indian market. I get lots of compliments when I'm wearing it too!

Pretty much everyone has heard the song 'Chocolate' by this band, but most people I've spoken to haven't listened to much else from them. I recently saw this cover of two of their songs and loved it, so I listened to the originals and loved them. And then I listened to their self-titled album. And loved it. Basically, this is a really great band that are well worth giving a good chance!

Marks and Spencer's Belgian Chocolate Chip Cookies
Yum. Just yum. RIP waistline.

HAUL: FeelUnique.com

April 03, 2016 0 Comments

My mum recently gave me a discount code for feelunique.com, as she had no use for it and thought I might like to have a look. I had never been on their site before, but I was blown away by the choice available at a different range of prices. There are high street brands alongside high end brands, so it's well worth a look on there if you're looking for some new products.
