REVIEW: Barry M 'Eye Define Super Gloss' Liquid Eyeliner

This post is not sponsored and all opinions are my own.

The first liquid eyeliner I ever purchased when I was 13 years old was a Barry M one, and I always go back to the brand when I need a new eyeliner. Unfortunately, my usual choice was sold out so I went for this 'Super Gloss' waterproof alternative.

I don't know if Barry M have changed their brush shape across all of their liquid liners or if it is just this particular type, but I was surprised when I opened it up for the first time and discovered that it was a little bit longer than I am used to. I find that I have less control with this longer brush, but the end of it is a much sharper point, which creates beautiful wings and a smooth ending in the inner corner of my eye. Despite having less control than I'm used to, the brush is still easy to use (far easier than marker eyeliners or the ridiculously long and flimsy brushes in Lush eyeliners, in my opinion). However, I do find that the longer brush seems to be giving me an issue with getting eyeliner on my lashes, which I've never experienced before. If not removed, it leads to my lashes clumping together and makes applying mascara really difficult.

On the eyes, the look of it is great. It is very pigmented, so it creates a definite black line, as opposed to dark grey. It lives up to its 'Super Gloss' name, as it actually has a very shiny finish, despite having no glitter in it (as far as I can tell.) Personally, I think I'd rather have a matte finish on my eyeliner, but I can see that it is a very cool effect.

As it is waterproof, it stays put all day long and hardly smudges at all. However, its staying power becomes a problem when you're trying to remove it. I use Micellar water to remove my makeup at the end of the day, usually from either Simple or Garnier. This usually takes off my makeup with a couple of swipes, but I seriously struggle with this eyeliner. I find I have to scrub at it for a while until it comes away in flaky clumps. This can be a bit painful at times, as I end up being quite rough with the delicate skin around my eyes. It's more of an annoyance than anything else, but I do wish it was easier to remove as the flakes tend to linger in my lashes as well, which makes my mascara look rather clumpy.
